Hotel Fire Safety Tips for Airline Crew

The Crew

Last Update hace 4 meses

Airline crew members stay in hotels hundreds of nights per year, often arriving tired and unfamiliar with the building layout. Knowing what to do in a hotel fire can save your life.
Essential steps when checking in:
  • Count the number of doors between your room and the nearest two emergency exits.
  • Locate the fire extinguisher and fire alarm pull station on your floor.
  • Test that your room door self-closes and latches properly.
  • Keep your room key, phone, and shoes within reach of the bed.

If the fire alarm sounds:

  • Feel the door with the back of your hand before opening it.
  • If the door is cool, crouch low and proceed to the nearest exit. Do NOT use lifts.
  • If the door is hot, stay in the room. Seal gaps with wet towels, call the fire department, and signal from the window.
  • Never go back for belongings.
